Are Celebrities Telling the Truth about Rhinoplasty?

We all don’t obsess over celebrities, but we usually hear about their whereabouts and scandals quite easily, via gossip magazines and TV. It’s probably stressful to be under the microscope, but that’s part of being a celebrity. Another issue they must deal with is how to affectively address rumors and tabloids. One popular topic that has put the rich and famous in the hot seat is a rhinoplasty, or “nose job,” procedure, which can alter the proportions of the nose.

Many celebrities have undergone the procedure because they stated that a deviated septum was causing breathing problems. But we wonder—is this the truth behind the use of a rhinoplasty?

The Issues of a Deviated Septum

When celebrities cite a deviated septum as the main reason behind their rhinoplasty procedures, they could be telling the truth. First off, what is a deviated septum? It’s an issue when the nasal cavity shifts away from the midline, causing an imbalance in the breathing passages.

Thus, a deviated septum can cause a number of issues, including:
  • Sinus infection
  • Headaches
  • Postnasal drip
  • One-sided nasal congestion
  • Nosebleeds
  • Difficulty breathing

What Can a Rhinoplasty Do?

In terms of treatment, a rhinoplasty can change the appearance of the nose, as well as improve function. A few common reasons a patient may undergo a rhinoplasty include:
  • Treat a nose injury
  • Repair deformity
  • Improve breathing difficulties
Improving the proportions of the breathing passages can help your overall quality of life, and we believe many of these celebrities saw this as the best way to find relief. What do you think?
